St. Valentine's Day
The big day!!! We all expected 14th February with hope for appropriate celebration. But let’s talk about our school activities. In the morning we were selling valentine’s cards and bracelets in the school. Of course, the money was for our charity club and its future campaigns. Expectedly, most of the students who bought cards and bracelets were from 12th grade. Happy St. Valentine’s Day, twelve-graders! We also give our teachers cards for free, because we all love them and appreciate their work.
Our next task was to create huge hearts for Veliko Tarnovo’s municipality, our local newspaper – “Yantra Today” and for the school hall. We cut the hearts from red cardboard and make little holes for ribbons. Then we wrote on them wishes about the day and our loved city. At noon we went first to the municipality where we give cards to all of its members to say “Thank you!” for the co-operation and support through the years. We were many students, so I decided to give cards to strangers on the street. I told you many times before that I love communicating with people and about the joy that you feel when you make somebody smile. Of course, sometimes you are disappointed when somebody thinks that you want money from them and try to avoid you, but most of the times people are friendly. Anyway, our next stop was the office of the local newspaper. People there are very kind and we have been working with them for eight years, so we were glad to see them as they were. We had a short speech about the St. Valentine’s and love and this is how our sharing ended.
I should mention that this year, as the previous one, was accompanied with love poems and songs on the street. All in all, it was a great day full of happiness and positive emotions!

CAS meeting
On 2nd February we had an organizational CAS meeting. On that day we planned all of our future activities for the second term and prepared our new planning pages. Nothing interesting at all, except the news, that we are continuing with our Tourism club and we shall go somewhere this term. This made me happy because I dream of some free time and vacation with no student books and reports to deal with. Unfortunately, I think that it won’t happen, because of our tasks and permanent lack of time.

On 8th February we had a simple task to do. It turned out that we need more cards and bracelets, so we had to make them. This time it was easier, because we knew the procedure. It is 8th and 14th February is coming, so we are getting more and more enthusiastic! :)
Charity club meeting

On 23rd January the school charity club had an organizational meeting once again. We discussed St. Valentine’s Day and distributed the tasks between us. I love this holiday, so I didn’t find the meeting to be boring this time. You can find more information about 14th February in my next posts.
Billiards competition

On 31st January we organized a little billiards competition. We were six girls (the whole IB group), divided into two groups. Of course, our team won. You know how irritable is a girl when she loses a game, so you can imagine the situation – little venom spread all around. Anyway, these were extremely amusing hours, the perfect way to relax in the end of the day.

Visiting the local theater

On 25th January we visited the local theater as well. The performance was made on the Giovanni Boccaccio’s book – Decameron. I was impressed! It was a brilliant show with wonderful decoration and performance. I didn’t think that the local theater could have such a performance, but I can’t find anything negative. The play was made like a parody of the lechery described in the book and it was extremely amusing. On this date the actors played in honor of the great Bulgarian actor Kosta Tsonev who passed away on the same day. It was a day full of emotions – both sadness and joy merged in one which made the evening memorable!
Making Valentine's cards and bracelets

On 25th January we continued with the preparation of St. Valentine’s cards and made some bracelets as well. They were made of small beads in hearts shape and thin threads (silver or golden). They were very simple and that’s why I liked them. I don’t like those ornate, kitsch jewels. Anyway, it was a funny day, we enjoyed making the card and the bracelets and again we talked about St. Valentine’s. I have a song in my mind:
Enjoy!
